A driver meets you at arrivals and takes you door to door. Most expensive per vehicle, cheapest per person once you are a group of six or more, and by far the least stressful after a long flight.
Scheduled minibuses run daily between both airports and La Fortuna. Cheap per seat, but they run to a timetable, they stop, and a delayed flight can cost you the day.
Gives you freedom and suits couples well. For a group it means several drivers navigating unfamiliar mountain roads, often arriving after dark — the most common regret we hear. Costa Rican rentals also carry mandatory insurance that is rarely quoted in the online price, so the real cost is higher than it first appears.
