Covered courts, 20 minutes away

There are three covered pickleball courts about twenty minutes from the lodge. They can be reserved, so a group can play an afternoon or play every day of the stay.

Why covered matters here

La Fortuna is rainforest. There is no real off-season — it is green all year and it rains in every month, usually in the afternoon. On an outdoor court that ends the game. Under a roof it does not. More on the weather →

Bring your paddles

We cannot promise paddles are available at the court. Pack your own and you will not be disappointed.

Hosting a pickleball retreat here

Yes, groups do. You take the whole lodge — 10 en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to 33 — reserve the covered courts, and get the volcano, the waterfall and the hot springs on the same trip. We book the courts and handle the driving as part of the stay.

To be useful rather than salesy: the courts are nearby, not on the property. If you want courts on the grounds, read the next section.

Want courts on the property itself?

Our sister property, Bella Vista Private Resort, has four pickleball courts on its own grounds, lit for night play and reserved exclusively for the group renting it — no scheduling around anyone else.

It is about three hours from here, and plenty of groups book both: play at Bella Vista, then come to Arenal for the volcano. Two regions, one trip.
